Nayelly Lozano - Academic Writing

From February 13th, 2016 to May 21st, 2016, we had Academic Writing course. It was imparted by Ms. Sofia Fernandez. In this class we studied the writing process and the steps we have to follow. Those steps are to choose a topic, do a brain storm to organize your ideas, make a draft of your writing, check it, and finally publish it. Also we learned about, the Academic conventions such as do references with APA style, following APA manual’s rules and some grammar rules. We studied the way to take notes with Cornell method which helps students to take better notes and do easier the way to study them.

During this course, we chose a topic started to work to make a paper. First, we learned about the kind of sources (as primary and secondary sources) and which ones we have to take to get information. Also we analyzed the research process and started doing our own research about the topic we chose. My topic was Gender identity right on transgender people’s official documents in Nuevo León, Mexico. I established the research problem and did the literature review about that topic, following APA style and the format we learned in class. Finally, we did our paper, and get some feedback to improve it.

And as a final evaluation we had to do an investigation and do some research regarding a topic we preferred. You can find the link below to the research paper.
